• Petitgrain was originally obtained from the fruits when they were unripe and still very tiny, like little grains, hence the name of this oil, but is now produced from the leaves and twigs of the tree.
• The oil is produced from the leaves and twigs of the tree by the process of steam distillation.
• It is pale yellow to orange – amber in colour and smells pleasantly fresh, fruity and woody, petitgrain is similar in its effects to neroli and can be used as a less expensive alternative if neroli is prohibitively costly.
